We really thought it was going to be hard to top 2012 (you know – getting hitched and all!), but 2013 surpassed our expectations. It was quite a year for Married Nomads! 2013 brought a lot of changes. We went from being nomads on the road to becoming blissfully domesticated in our first apartment together.
We learned a few life lessons along the way. We took leaps, and as always, landed on our feet. Things may not have gone as planned, but in the end we are still living the dream. Our dream. This year was also one of opportunity, and of course, a few new travel adventures.
So where did 2013 take us?
We celebrated Christmas and New Years in Bali, Indonesia.
We lived in Auckland, New Zealand for a few months.
We went on the most epic road trip in Queenstown, New Zealand.
We visited pictures-don’t-do-it-justice Milford Sound, New Zealand.
We visited Amauri’s brother in England.
We watched the sun set in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
We got our nature fix at Plitvice National Park in Croatia.
We climbed 4.5k up a cliff in Kotor, Montenegro.
We made a friend in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
We survived a snowstorm in Budapest, Hungary.
We fell in love with the architecture in Vienna, Austria.
We returned to Prague and reunited with our fellow TEFL friends.
We went to the Pilsner Urquell brewery (or as they call it, “brue-berry”) in Czech Republic with new friends.
We celebrated Easter in Prague, Czech Republic and indulged in some of their crazy traditions.
We fulfilled our dream of traveling Europe by train.
We had one of our most memorable experiences wine tasting in Lisbon, Portugal.
We laid on the most incredible beach in Lagos, Portugal.
We watched flamenco dancers in Seville, Spain.
We moved into our first apartment together.
We had our first lobsters in New England, USA.
We were overwhelmed by the sights, smells, and sounds of Morocco.
and finally – we rode camels in the Sahara desert!
We have a lot to be thankful for. Here’s a toast to 2013 – may it burn brightly in our memories far into our years!
